The Rhoades School curricular program responds to the needs of
bright students by:
- Teaching a strong foundation in reading, writing, language
arts, and mathematics
- Offering substantial hands-on and accelerated instruction
in social studies and science
- Enriching the children through instruction in computers,
Spanish, music, art, and physical education
- Expanding on each subject and allowing children to dig deeply
and stretch broadly in areas of interest
- Allowing children to move on to new levels when they are
ready
- Giving opportunities for children to draw connections
- Encouraging the creativity and problem-solving skills in
every child
- Incorporating the fine arts within academic instruction
- Emphasizing abstract thinking
- Most importantly, celebrating the wonder and joy of learning!
The school teaches children to measure achievement by mastery and
enjoyment of content rather than by adherence to an artificial structure
that may be below the child's capabilities.
Extended Day Program
The Rhoades School offers a rich variety of enrichment classes after
school, such as art, jewelry making, ceramics, basketball, and music
instruction.
A full extended day program is available from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
This program is planned and taught by our teachers, ensuring the
same policies, supervision, and organization found in the daily
school program.
