Rhoades School students, parents and faculty volunteer at Feeding America San Diego.

On Saturday, October 21, Rhoades families had a fun and productive morning volunteering at Feeding San Diego. More than 60 volunteers bagged 3,000 lbs. of pears in 3 lb. bags, 2,400 lbs. of carrots in 3 lb. bags, and assembled 194 food backpacks for students on the free lunch program to take home with them over the weekend. The pears and carrots will be distributed to Feeding San Diego partners throughout the county. More pictures from the day can be seen on theĀ Rhoades Twitter feed.

The theme for service learning at Rhoades for the 2017-2018 school year is food waste and food insecurity. Students will have the opportunity throughout the year to learn about food waste and food insecurity through guest speakers, documentaries, books, classroom activities, and hands-on experiences.
