Rhoades School Girls’ Volleyball team ends the season as the 2017 League Champions!

It was a grey Fall day after the sleep inducing time change in a little corner of Encinitas when something special happened.   Fourteen young athletes won the Independent Middle School League Championship for The Rhoades School and for each other!  After just its second year of existence, the 2017 Girl’s Volleyball season culminated in a spirited playoff match with tenacious effort against a skilled opponent.  At a celebratory end-of-season banquet, the teammates described one another as persistent, kind and driven to try new things and work through mistakes.  More than anything, teammates supported one another on and off the court while practicing excellent sportsmanship, effective leadership and having fun.

Team members Taylor Belanich, Kelly Bordine, Noa Burrows, Leila Elasaad, Grace Howard, Maizy Kharrazian, Morgan Link, Anya Moore, Lauren Palmer, Kait Podlich, Scarlett Schmitt, Olivia Silvester, Sienna Sobotta, and Elizabeth Thacker were coached by Jon Aharoni and Jeff Nolan.  Coach Aharoni is the proud father of Jaime in 2nd grade.

The team would like to thank their parents, all the fans who cheered them on and the faculty for their warm support and encouragement.
