The Rhoades School Students Raise $600 to Support Girls Worldwide

Members of the school’s Girl Rising Club hosted a bake sale to support efforts that help empower girls locally and internationally.

Students at The Rhoades School in Encinitas recently hosted a bake sale and raised $600 to support efforts that benefit girls around the world. The bake sale was organized by members of the school’s Girl Rising Club, part of a global campaign that works to educate and empower girls. Proceeds from the bake sale will help the club provide support to three girls sponsored by the school who live in Peru, South Sedan and the Philippines. Through the funds raised, the club will also be able to provide a scholarship for a local student to participate in the Casa de Amistad tutoring program, where seventh and eighth grade students at The Rhoades School volunteer monthly.

Girl Rising’s mission is to change the way the world values girls and to ensure girls everywhere can be full and equal participants in society. Casa de Amistad is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the education and character development of underserved children, teens and their families.
