The Rhoades School in Encinitas, CA

What does it look like when students are challenged to think deeply, live courageously, and truly understand the world around them? Since 1980, The Rhoades School in Encinitas, has provided a distinctive, non-sectarian private school education designed for academically advanced learners in Kindergarten through 8th Grade by seamlessly integrating rigorous academics with character development, creativity, and real-world application. Families from the Old Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Olivenhain, Leucadia, La Costa, Carlsbad, Rancho Santa Fe, and Bressi Ranch areas love how we make learning fun and exciting.

Our student-centered, project-based approach empowers students to become independent thinkers, problem-solvers, and confident leaders, engaging in hands-on STEM exploration, world languages, the arts, competitive athletics, and meaningful community service that fosters empathy and leadership. The result is a well-rounded education and a close-knit community where students consistently achieve exceptional outcomes—including performing above national ERB benchmarks and earning acceptance into top-choice high schools.

The Rhoades Elementary and Middle School is recognized as a 2027 Grade A+ School by Niche and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). If you have a younger child, come visit our sister preschool on Balour Drive.
