Hello! I am the Grade 5-8 Technology/Engineering teacher at The Rhoades School. I grew up in East County, San Diego, and then attended the University of California, Irvine to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer for the State of California, my work experience includes residential structural design, engineering for commercial signage, project management, and plan checking for the Laguna Beach Zoning Department.
After nearly 10 years in the Engineering/Building industry, I returned to San Diego and stumbled upon a teaching position with High Tech High. It is there that I discovered my true passion for teaching. Coming from one year as an 8th Grade Math/Science teacher at High Tech Middle North County, and six years as the Engineering & Design teacher at High Tech Middle Chula Vista, I was thrilled to join The Rhoades School family in the Fall of 2017. In my role here, it is my goal to get my students excited about technology and engineering by solving fun, authentic problems through hands-on activities, and creative design thinking. I also hope to foster passions that lead to rewarding college experiences and careers in the future.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, singing karaoke, taking dance lessons, going to Disneyland, playing with LEGOs, reading, and of course enjoying all of the amazing sights and activities the beautiful City of San Diego has to offer. I am also a proud Rhoades parent!
