¡Hola! My name is Alina Rozas. I am the Grade 6-8 Spanish teacher at The Rhoades School. I was born and raised in Madrid, Spain, and I lived there until I got married. After, I have been traveling with my family, and I had the opportunity to live in several cities: Sao Paulo (Brazil), Houston (United States), going back to Madrid (Spain), and San Diego (United States)
Since a young age, I discovered that teaching was one of my passions. I love to help my students and celebrate with them their successes. I started my teaching career back in High School tutoring some of my family’s members. When I went to College, I continued tutoring while getting my bachelor’s degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. At that time, I taught Calculus, Algebra, Chemistry, Physics. It was in Houston when I really started teaching Spanish. I worked at The Awty International School as a middle and upper school IB teacher. To fulfill my goal to become a better Spanish teacher, I completed a masters degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language. Back in Spain, I worked at the Lycée Français de Madrid, and after at a training company as the Head of the Spanish Department. In San Diego, I taught at National University, and I tutored Spanish to middle and high school as well as college students before joining The Rhoades School. Traveling throughout the world made me develop a passion to learn, teach, and embrace different cultures.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, traveling, reading, walking, and cooking!
