Hello! My name is Stephanie Belzunce and I teach fourth grade here at The Rhoades School. I was born in Chicago, IL where my mother’s family still resides. After moving to different cities throughout my childhood for my father’s profession, I was able to experience different cultures both within the United States and in Europe. My father is originally from Lyon, France and therefore, traveling has become a very large part of my adult life.
I graduated in 2009 from Butler University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Butler is currently ranked the top school in the Midwest and the #1 school for innovative education. Go Bulldogs! I was fortunate to work in Indianapolis right after graduation for 3 years in the public school system before leaving for an amazing opportunity to work at the International School of Indiana as a fourth grade teacher. Through this experience, I have become extremely inspired to enhance my professional learning and classroom experiences through projects and student centered units of study.
With my family moving to Arizona while I was studying at Butler, I missed living close to them. I decided to apply to The Rhoades School in 2013 to make the move out West and received a job here as a second grade teacher. This is my sixth year at Rhoades and I am so proud to be a part of this community of educators.
In my spare time I love to take my dog, Gracie, to the dog park, take yoga classes, go to the beach, and spending time with family and friends. I became scuba certified 3 years ago so I have enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone to travel to tropical places and explore diving sites. I am currently working on my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of San Diego and will graduate in December 2019.
